ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS, BEFORE YOU NEED TO ASK THEM

  • A brow consultation will usually be carried out at your initial appointment at VJA.

Kailaynd will provide information about what is included in the service that has been booked and the step-by-step process. She will also go through a consultation form at the beginning to make sure there will be no contradictions before starting the service.

Kailaynd will also discuss options for the perfect shape and colour for your brows that will best suit your features. She will listen and take on any of your ideas and expectations for your brows also.
Any inspiration photos are welcome in the chat, but it is also important you’re aware that everyone has their own unique shape and she can’t guarantee it’s going to be 100% the same.

  • Essentially brow dye or ‘hybrid’ dye creates a deeper stain in the skin and the hairs so it will last longer than your usual brow tint. Hybrid dye can last up to 7 days on the skin and 7 week on the hairs, where tint generally lasts around 3-4 days on the skin and 4-5 weeks on the hairs, all depending on how porous your brow hairs are and your skin type and aftercare. How long a tint or dye lasts often depends on how dark the shade is that has been used in the service as well - with the darker it is, the longer it will last. If your a natural brow girl, I would opt with sticking with tint, as hybrid dye can appear more bold.

  • The lamination process is using a solution that ‘softens’ the brow hair by unlocking the disulphide bonds inside the hair shaft, making it easier to manipulate the brow hair and brush it in the desired position. After an amount of time, the first solution is taken off and a second solution is applied to essentially bring the bonds back together and ‘set’ the brow hairs in the desired position - and I know you’re probably thinking ‘why would I want to do that?’ - well my friends, lamination creates a fuller brow for all my thinner brow gals, and it also lifts the brow, creating a beautiful lifted arch and shape - therefore giving you a mini face and eye lift which we LOVE! Added with a tint, dye or just a wax and followed with a hydrating treatment and styling at the end, your brows will be on fleek!

  • It is recommended to keep your brows dry and free from any water, moisturisers, cleansers and oils in the first 24 hours *especially for a lamination service*. This is because the lamination solutions used take 24 hours to fully set the hairs in place and water can disrupt this process - this can include steam from a sauna or hot shower. For tint and dye I also recommend keeping them dry for 24 hours to let the product fully settle into the skin, allowing the skin and hair stain to last longer.

  • As well as keeping them dry, I recommend trying not to sleep on your face for the first night - for the same reason in letting them fully set and not disrupting the position of the hairs. A mascara wand and aftercare oil will be provided as the VJA lamination aftercare kit, instructions will be included but I do recommend using the aftercare oil every single night to hydrate the brow hairs and for the longevity of the lamination. The health of the brow hairs is my number one priority, and if I notice they are a little dry at your next appointment I’ll be able to offer a professional hydrating treatment to help protect your hairs during your next lamination.

  • To ensure longevity of the lamination I recommend brushing the brows up every day so they remain in an upright position, if the hairs are slanted down - they can set this way. This will be easy for the first 3-4 weeks (depending on how course the hair is and how well it took to the lamination) after that you may find a couple of hairs start to drop or you’ll have new growth come in - this is when you may need a clear gel or soap to brush them up fully. There is two brow gel options for purchase at VJA or Kailaynd will be able to offer other recommendations if needed.

  • recommend waiting ‘at least’ 8 weeks before your next lamination, that is depending on the condition of your brows. What I recommend is booking an appointment in between laminations for your usual wax and tint or hybrid brows to keep on top of the shape and growth. I will also be able to finish off with a hydrating oil in that appointment to keep the lami fresh, that way you’ll still be able to come in every 4 or so weeks.

  • Depending on your style of brow, whether it be bold and crisp or natural and fluffy, Kailaynd will be able to recommend the right products for you and show you how to use them - please ask at your next appointment.

Brows

The ‘BOOK NOW’ button can be found on my Instagram as well as the website, it will prompt you through but if you have any trouble please contact Kailaynd for any questions. If it will be your first time to VJA, please book in for the ‘first time client’ option when booking in your service as this includes time in the appointment for the consultation - please be aware that I do have to include a ‘first time client’ fee which is covering the extra time taken in that appointment.
Please arrive to your appointments 5 minutes early, if I am running a few minutes late there will be a seating area for you to wait.

Before your appointment

Please arrive to your brow appointment with no makeup on if possible. Also a great tip is to exfoliate your brows leading up to your appointment to keep them free from dry skin and any makeup buildup and if you plan to tan before you brow appointment, it is recommended to avoid the face as it can discolour the tint. If you are currently on any medication for your skin, or have used any active ingredients such as retinol or AHAs recently please let Kailaynd know at the start of your appointment.

SIDE NOTE

  • Very much the same as a lamination, solutions are used to set the lashes in an upward direction while being adhered to a silicon rod on the eyelid. Kailaynd always takes extra care with being gentle and safe around the eyes during a lash lift treatment as the eyes are a delicate area. A tint is included in the service, followed by a hydrating treatment to finish with. The product is very gentle and works on hydrating and strengthening the lashes during the lifting process. The results are longer, voluminous and lifted lashes, revealing your natural lashes in all their glory while being low maintenance and minimal upkeep.

  • Avoid wetting your lashes for the first 24 hours to allow them to fully set in the direction they are lifted in, this also includes saunas and steam from a hot shower.

  • It’s important to try and not sleep on your face for the first night, to again allow them to fully set. It is recommend to not use mascara for the first 48 hours to not disrupt the position of the lashes, Kailaynd will be able to offer a safe lash lift mascara to use after your treatment. Otherwise it’s a great idea to keep your lashes brushed with a mascara wand on a daily to keep them neat and tidy. Although an aftercare oil isn’t provided free of charge with your lash lift, it is highly recommend purchasing a lash conditioner from VJA to use in your lashes to help them stay hydrated and strong after your lift. This is an affordable product and does last a long time, and does make a huge difference in keeping your lash lift hydrated, neat and tidy and also helps with the longevity of the lift.

  • I recommend waiting 8-10 weeks before booking in your next lash lift. There is an option of having an additional tint in between your lift appointments where I’m also able to do a hydrating treatment, this is usually done around 4 weeks after.

Lashes

There are patch test kits available for no cost to take home before your first lash lift appointment, if you are prone to allergic reactions or have eye or skin sensitivities.

Before your appointment

For the best results possible, please come to your appointment with strictly NO EYE MAKEUP on, especially NO waterproof mascara. This takes extra time in your appointment and may effect how well your lashes lift.

It’s also best not to wear any moisturiser or facial oil underneath your eyes, as this may cause the under eye pads to slip.

It is recommended to remove eye contacts before your appointment.

SIDE NOTE

  • Depending on what makeup look it is, it will usually take 1-1.5 hours. This can be discussed when booking and deciding on the sort of look you would like, Kailaynd will be able to give you an estimated time frame.

  • Travelling is an option, but a travel fee will be involved and the booking will need to consist of at least three makeup clients at the same destination.

  • Absolutely! Bridal is one of Kailaynd’s specialties and she loves being involved in such a beautiful event. Find more information on the ‘Bridal makeup’ page, as well as the enquiry/contact form.

  • Depending on lip product choice, your lips may need touching up throughout the day/night.Your base and eye makeup are applied to ensure maximum wear of hours without touch up but if you are prone to oiliness, Kailaynd recommends taking a compact powder or blotting powder to your event to touch up with.

  • Bridal and special events bookings can be made up to 18 months ahead.

  • Makeup lessons are available to book to both professional makeup artists and also people who are looking to learn the basics. No matter your needs, Kailaynd is able to tailor the lesson to the individual and provides expert knowledge on products and techniques that she has learnt through her years of experience.

  • If you’re getting married - absolutely yes! It is a good opportunity to meet and get acquainted with Kailaynd and also be on the same page about what sort of makeup look you would like on your special day - and adjust any techniques or products used if necessary. If you would like a trial for a different event you are more than welcome, keeping in mind trials do cost the same as a normal makeup application would.

Makeup

Please arrive to your appointment with NO makeup on, however, skincare is perfectly fine.

Skin prep is key and having a good routine leading up to your appointment will ensure a beautiful makeup application. This can include double cleansing, exfoliation to remove dead skin and texture, using a good moisturiser and drinking lots of water.

Lip prep is important to have a smooth hydrated base for applying lip products. This can include a lip balm or mask, and a lip scrub if you find you have dry flaky lips.

For a more defined brow look, it may be worth having your brows shaped and tinted before your makeup appointment.

If you have lash extensions, it is ideal to have them refilled and fresh before your makeup appointment as I won’t apply a strip lash over them. I’ll be unable to apply a strip lash over lifted lashes as well as they will not seat correctly.

If you are planning to fake tan in the days leading up to your appointment, please avoid using tan on the face.

If you suffer with sensitive watering eyes, it may be a good idea to use some eye drops before your makeup appointment.

If you would like your chest and collarbones highlighted and bronzed, please come to appointment with a strapless or singlet top. Also consider wearing a top you can easily take off over your head without touching your makeup.
